Easy Puff Pastry Calzone

For this recipe, I got the idea off of Pinterest. I was hoping to use the waffle iron as shown on the pin but it turned out to a total disaster.

What you need:

  • Puff Pastry Dough
  • Pizza sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Your favorite toppings (fresh tomato, pepperoni, ham, pineapple, etc.)
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Olive oil (optional)
  1. Preheat the oven to 425ยบ F.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry dough onto a cookie sheet or pizza pan. It doesn't really matter what type of baking ware you use (I used a pie pan since I had only one pizza pan), as long as it can hold your calzone when you're baking it. If you have some cooking spray, make sure you lightly spray the pans before putting the dough on it to prevent sticking.
  3. This step is optional. Sprinkle some garlic powder over the dough and drizzle some olive oil.
  4. Spread the pizza sauce in the center of the dough. You can put more or less sauce depending on how you like it.
  5. Sprinkle the Mozzarella cheese to your liking over the sauce.
  6. Add your favorite toppings. Remember to keep it in the center of the dough.
  7. Sprinkle more cheese on top of the topping. You don't have to but I do it to give it an extra cheesy taste.
  8. Take one corner (any corner) of the dough and fold it slightly over the center. Repeat the process until the filling is completely covered, leaving no holes.
  9. Bake the calzone for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Let the calzone cool before enjoying. The last thing you want to do is burn your mouth, and fingers.
